Happy to Be Here

Happy To Be Here was released in 1996. The album was produced by Michael Buffalo Smith and engineered by Douglas Mullinax (RIP) at Crystal Rain Studios, Traveler's Rest, SC between February and June, 1996. The original album packaging was designed by Smith. The front cover photograph is a Press Association Award Winning image by Hilda Morrow, former editor of The Inman Times. The subject is the late Ernest Chapman, a well-known and much loved resident of Inman, seen shaving in his front yard.

The album was recorded and released in 1996, and features fourteen songs, all originals. Joining Michael B. on the album were: Iconic Spartanburg musician David Haddox, drums/keys/percussion/backing vocals; Ingeborg Haddox, backing vocals, guitar; Joey Parrish (Silver Travis), bass; Paula Powers, vocals; Chris Corde, saxophone, fiddle; David Windhorst, vocals, guitar; and Mark Burrell (Toy Caldwell Band) Drums.

All fourteen songs are written by Smith, among them "Stone Houses," "Fairytales," "She's Got a Hold On Me" and "Hannah's Song." (Written for my then  4-year old (step) daughter, who now has her own tiny little kid. Two of 'em, actually.)

CD download available at CD Baby and iTunes.
